Stolen ferry boat found in Haiti
Published on June 28, 2012 Email To Friend    Print Version

A 44-foot vessel belonging to the TCI fast ferry service known as Caribbean Cruisin' has turned up in Haitian waters, being intercepted there by Haitian authorities.

The boat had been reported missing from the Leeward Marina area of Provo during the weekend of June 16/17. The Royal Turks and Caicos Police were alerted but had been unable to locate the boat until notified by the Haitian authorities that they had intercepted the vessel.

The nationality of the persons aboard was not revealed. Speculation is that the boat, known to be fast, had been hijacked to bring a load of illegal immigrants back to the TCI.
