PDM leader accepts challenge

Newly elected leader of the Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM), Oswald Skippings, has responded to a challenge issued by his Progressive National Party (PNP) counterpart Dr Rufus Ewing. Ewing, when told a week before the PDM convention that Skippings was the heir apparent to the PDM leadership, said “bring him on”.

Skippings, known for his strong and often extempore speeches, said at a PDM press conference on Monday July 2, “To those who are reckless and foolhardy enough to issue a nationwide challenge to 'bring it on' let me serve you hot notice that your challenge is gladly accepted.”

While Ewing has been busy honing his own speaking skills there has been wide speculation on the possibility of future head to head public debates between the two party leaders. This may have been part of the reason ousted PDM leader DerekTaylor was easily beaten in last month’s party convention and leadership election. Taylor’s public speaking skills are known to be weaker than Skippings’.
