TCI resort gets major facelift
Published on July 14, 2011Email To Friend    Print Version

One of the popular hotels in the Turks and Caicos is getting a major upgrade from its new owner.

Canadian businessman Dale Papke said he would spend about US$2.5 million to renovate the recently re-licensed Comfort Suites Ports of Call Resort in Providenciales, which his real estate company recently acquired.

"I am excited. The island itself is starting to get on the radar, our renovations have begun, and we look forward to re-positioning the resort as the premier value-priced resort in the Turks and Caicos Islands," said Papke.

Renovations to the 98-room property have begun in earnest and include complete room refurbishing, as well as upgrades and renovations to public areas, including the lobby, breakfast and bar areas as well as the hallways which will have enhanced lighting.

New large screen televisions, 17-inch safety deposit boxes, poolside and balcony furniture, an eight-person hot tub, a fitness centre, children's play ground and hourly beach shuttle service to and from the world famous Grace Bay beach will be some of the new amenities, services and attractions added over the 12-month renovation.

Papke noted, "Guests will have the choice of walking 300 yards or being shuttled to and from the beach or staying at the resort and enjoying the incredible landscaping of the property, the courtyard pool setting or the quaint shops."

As the new acquisition includes the adjacent Ports of Call Shopping Village, the resort will add the 18,000 square foot plaza's great variety of restaurants, bars and shops as an extension of its amenities and services.

The transformed hotel will offer travelers the opportunity to stay in a trendy, clean, upbeat resort with on-site restaurants, bars, an ice cream shop, gift and clothing stores, hair stylist, spa and dive shop while enjoying the incredible turquoise water, the magnificent beaches, friendly locals and the great restaurants, at prices substantially below most of the other resorts on the island.
