Youthful murderer pleads insanity
Published on November 1, 2011Email To Friend    Print Version

Fifteen-year-old Randy Harvey, who stabbed to death 81-year-old Charity Harvey Higgs in her home at Conch Bar Middle Caicos over one year ago, changed his plea from guilty to temporary insanity in a Provo courtroom. When the alleged crime was committed Harvey was a 14-year-old high school student.

Sources in Middle Caicos said the disturbed young man was planning three robberies of three senior women who all ran small stores from their homes. He told acquaintances he was planning to buy an automobile with the proceeds of the planned robberies.

The young man was reported to have broken into and been suspected to have stolen in past months but was never investigated by the police and made to account for the minor offences.
